Leg holster too small!,
by L. Hagood, 2010-02-17
If they would only tell you the size of the leg holster you could make an informed decision regarding its purchase. The exercises and workouts are great, but that stupid leg holster won't stay on because my leg is too big! I spend half the workout readjusting that thing, putting it back on, etc. I had to use the shortening strap to make it longer, but that just doesn't hold it tight enough to stay on properly. Guess I will have to stick with Wii Fit Plus until I drop some lbs.
A must for second player or if you only bought More Workouts...,
by Mom23, 2010-02-16
I bought this because I don't own Wii Active, and More Workouts doesn't come with a leg band. Most of the reviews here already cover my thoughts, but I thought I'd consolidate them in one place in case you were, like me, wondering what to do when you are only buying More Workouts:
- you need a leg band to hold the nunchuck. It comes with Wii Active, not with More Workouts. For that reason alone, it is worth it to buy this. (Similarly, if you want to use the "multiplayer" feature...your workout buddy needs a leg band too).
- the resistance band is garbage. I kept it because my 7 year old likes to use it when she pretends to do some of the exercises with me. If you are looking for a 'challenge', buy a better band. I'm still looking for one that comes with handles that will not make holding the remotes and the bands awkward. I will be looking awhile, I'm afraid.
I did not find a better alternative for my situation, and was glad that I bought it. Hopefully v. 3 of the Wii Active series will come with a leg band!!
A little pricey, but good replacements,
by W. K. McCoubrey, 2010-02-12
The kit exactly replicates the accessories from Wii Active, but at $20 seems a little expensive for what it is. I bought the kit because the original leg band had worn out and was being held together solely by the stitching. I had already replaced the original resistance band, which didn't last through my first 30 day challenge by buying bulk Theraband. That didn't last much longer, but an 18 yard roll makes a lot of replacement. I have now switched to real exercise resistance bands, which are a lot more durable, but you have to shop around to find ones that work well with the handles. Most come with grips rather than straps, so it is hard to hold the remote and Nunchuck.
Best home workout EVER!!!,
by T. Stevens, 2010-02-12
Like many people I made a resolution to eat healthy and exercise for 2010. I don't have time to go to a gym and I hate to workout alone. I have the Wii Fit but it just didn't seem to be doing the trick for me so a friend suggested the Active. I've been using it at least 4x a week for the past month and I absolutely LOVE it!! I wake up about 30 minutes earlier in the morning and I'm able to get my workout in and I really feel like I've worked out. I bought the accessories for my boyfriend and he's even been working out with me. The game kind of turns it into a competition and of course we always want to beat each other! I've tried it with the balance board and without and prefer the exercises without it.
The only 2 very minor things I don't like are the fact that you can't track your weight using the balance board, you have to manually update it as you lose, and the 30 day challenge won't track workouts that you do outside of it. I was doing the 30 day challenge and decided to workout with my boyfriend and it didn't register the fact that I had worked out. I'd also like to be able to do the 30 day challenge with another person.
I've suggested this "game" to several friends since I started it and two of them have purchased it and are using it as often as I do!
Ya need a second set for the two person workout!!!,
by Rusty Root, 2010-02-11
My wife and I had been working out together with the WII and EA Active. We were using an MP3 holder for the second person. It got to be too much so we purchased the companion kit. Now we both enjoy working out. Who would have thought that running in place could be fun...
